who we are

We’re savvy. We’re dreamers. We’re creative. We’re strategic. We’re recovering corporate leaders. We’re serious about getting results. We’re professionals who do good work in an environment that is collaborative, welcoming and fun.

Who we’re not: We’re not pretentious. We’re not fueled by ego. We’re not lackadaisical. We’re not people who send you to voicemail. We’re not those who recommend tactics that don’t make sense for your business to line pockets.

Basically, we’re everything you’ve ever wanted in a marketing trailblazer. But instead of one, you get a team of experienced professionals who are at your beck and call. Our goal is to integrate into your team. It’s not an agency-client relationship. We partner together to win together.

If you like to work hard and have fun while doing it, Grassboots Marketing would love to talk with you about the ways we can help you to impact your bottom line.

Angela Alexander
owner, senior strategist

Hi. I am Angela, owner and lead strategist here at Grassboots Marketing. The idea of starting my own business didn’t initially start with me. It started from the encouragement of some close friends and family members who encouraged me to take a leap of faith and do something, anything, I would love to do.

More than three years ago I left my corporate post in health care administration and physician practice management to follow my dreams—once I figured out what those were. As I reflected on my past 20+ years of work experience, I began to make a list of the tasks and projects that brought me the most joy. Armed with my list and a few months of rest and relaxation, I decided to blend my experience and knowledge and start a small boutique marketing firm. I also recruited some great collaborator friends to join me on this journey. Now, I do what I love every day and I work side by side with fantastic clients to help them grow their businesses and strategic brands.

I’m a public relations strategist at heart who loves great content, a great cause, a great product, and a great event along with a great event t-shirt. And I love brainstorming with our client partners and providing workable solutions for the problems they want to solve.

I also love my husband, our four children, my sweet rescue Chloe and good football. Managing these loves over the years has enabled me to become a great multi-tasker, to work well under pressure, to be flexible and to manage a crisis or two along the way. I've built great relationships too, partnering with collaborators and clients in several states and right here at home. I’d love to partner with you.

So why Grassboots?

Well, as I said, I love the foundation of public relations—telling a story using grassroots strategies. And I love boots. All kinds of boots, but mostly cowboy boots. While driving to Nashville one day for a client meeting, I was brainstorming a company name (ie: talking to myself in the car), thinking of key words and phrases that best described the work we do. And I was thinking about what I wanted for my birthday—new boots. The name Grassboots popped into my mind and after completing a quick focus group (ie: called a few team members and friends), we officially became Grassboots Marketing. A shout out to two of my loves—my public relations roots, and yes, my love of cowboy boots.
